2026 Malcolm Phillips 5km Age Graded Race

On a damp and cool 9th May 2026 at Bowen Road over 100 runners competed in the annual Malcolm Phillips 5km age graded race. The race is to celebrate Malcolm who passed away 20 years ago. Malcolm was a dedicated member of AVOHK and HKLRRC clubs and gave so much back to our sport. Malcolm’s lovely wife Cindy was on hand to not only present the awards but to also take part in the race. Malcolm would have been so proud of Cindy and AVOHK.

Due to restrictions runners were started in batches of 30 with a three minute interval. In the race itself Heijboer Godefriedus continued with his good form and was the fastest male runner on the day in. an age adjusted time of 15 mins 41 secs closely followed by Nick Forde in 15 mins 52 secs. Wong Kit Shun was the fastest female on the day with an age adjusted time of 17 mins 39 secs followed by Helen Leung in 18 mins 54 secs with Hannah Bainbridge third fastest female in 18 mins 56 secs. Shout out for the oldest on the course 82 year old Bill Purves a legend in the Hong Kong walking circles. Walking the course, Bill recorded an age adjusted time of 28 mins 11 secs.
