2026 Malcolm Phillips 5km Age Graded Race

On a damp and cool 9th May 2026 at Bowen Road over 100 runners competed in the annual Malcolm Phillips 5km age graded race. The race is to celebrate Malcolm who passed away 20 years ago. Malcolm was a dedicated member of AVOHK and HKLRRC clubs and gave so much back to our sport. Malcolm’s lovely wife Cindy was on hand to not only present the awards but to also take part in the race. Malcolm would have been so proud of Cindy and AVOHK.

Due to restrictions runners were started in batches of 30 with a three minute interval. In the race itself Heijboer Godefriedus continued with his good form and was the fastest male runner on the day in. an age adjusted time of 15 mins 41 secs closely followed by Nick Forde in 15 mins 52 secs. Wong Kit Shun was the fastest female on the day with an age adjusted time of 17 mins 39 secs followed by Helen Leung in 18 mins 54 secs with Hannah Bainbridge third fastest female in 18 mins 56 secs. Shout out for the oldest on the course 82 year old Bill Purves a legend in the Hong Kong walking circles. Walking the course, Bill recorded an age adjusted time of 28 mins 11 secs.

A big thank you to Race Directors Frank Riehm and David Woo and to the many Club volunteers who made the race such a success. The full results are below:

2025 AVOHK Christmas Party at Museum Cafe8 – 11th Dec 2025

AVOHK Members had a wonderful Christmas Party at Museum Cafe8 on Thursday 11th Dec 2025. A good chance to get together socially and the AVOHK Christmas Party is a well established event in the AVOHK Calendar. Apart from the delicious food provided by Melody and her team at Cafe8. We were entertained by Guitarist, Iris who put us all in a festive mood with his renditions of many Christmas favourites. It wouldn’t be an AVOHK Christmas Party without a Lucky Draw to round the evening off. Many thanks to those that donated gifts to the lucky draw and a big thank you to Phil Booth for conducting the lucky draw. A special big thank you to Elaine Hall, AVOHK Vice-Chair who co-ordinated everything to make this event happen. Thank you also to also those many members that spontaneously volunteered to help at the Road Scholars Marathon 2026 and Half Marathon on Sun 11th January 2026.
