2026 AVOHK 5K Series – Bowen Road – 15th August 2026 – Results

On a wet and humid Saturday morning at 8am, 278 runners toed the line on Bowen Road in the first of AVOHK’s 4 race 5K series. Turnout was at a record 85%+ from those that entered. There were 3 starts for today’s race. Ladies first at 8am sharp, with a 5 minute gap to the Juniors, followed by a further 5 minute gap to the men. Feedback was that most runners enjoyed the separate starts and the opportunity to race against their peers. Phil Booth, AVOHK’s official race announcer and starter got the runners on their way. Lau Tsun Ling (MO) was the fastest runner on the day with a very credible 17 mins and 14 secs, with Tsui Chi Kin (M35) 2nd fastest in 17 mins 34 secs and Frederic Vaudaine (M40) 3rd in 17 mins 37 secs. A good warm up for Frederic who will shortly compete in the World Masters Athletics Championships in Daegu, Korea in the Half Marathon. The fastest lady of the day was Libby Humphreys(W40) and 24th overall in a time of 19 mins 35 secs, 2nd lady was Colette Whiteoak (W35) in 20 Mins 10 secs and 3rd lady was Amie Shuttleworth-Waite (W40)in 21 mins 33 secs. Some wonderful running by the juniors, in particular Atharav Bharambe (M15) who was 10th overall in a time of 18 mins 33 out sprinting his age group rival Jayden Liu Chun Ho (M15) by 1 second. Big shout out to So Yip Sing (M80) our oldest competitor in the race. Some great individual masters results. Well done to all those that turned up today and a big thanks to Race Director, Feeman Lee and all the AVOHK club volunteers and their friends who helped put on this race.
